Brewery: Thornbridge

Origin: Bakewell, Derbyshire, England
Style: Strawberry Ale
ABV: 4.5%

Named after a scrawled lover’s message on the now regenerated Park Hill estate which on closer reading reveals a tragic story of poverty, neglect and desparation. The original message was to Clare Middleton - created by a (successful) suitor Jason, but her name was edited out by developer Urban Splash to help create a more PR-friendly, quirky piece of street art.

Likewise Thornbridge have got in the action here creating a special one-off fruit beer which incidentally was given to new buyers of the Urban Splash properties. It’s also been sewn into cushions, printed on Tshirts, made into posters, hashtagged etc etc...all the while the Jason struggles to make ends meet.

One silver lining perhaps is that the spot has become an popular location for marriage proposals, and the flats themselves were not demolished but thoughtfully redeveloped, now with Grade II listed status.
